After a Ph.D. (Pr Eric Enholm, University of Florida, USA) and 2 postdoctoral fellowships (ESPCI, Paris, France and ICSN-CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette, France), I've been recruited at the INRA (French Institute for Agronomics Research) as a "Chargé de Recherche" (Senior Scientist) to work on lignin chemistry, biosynthesis and valorization at the Versailles Research Center.
At the INRA, my research projects dealt with the total synthesis of natural phenolic compounds, the creation and valorization of new bio-based polymers/materials, and the study of the lignification in planta using cell wall mimetics and DHP polymerization.
Today, with the Chair of Industrial Agro-Biotechnologies, we are creating a multidisciplinary research team gathering scientists with background and expertise in life sciences (biology, chemistry, materials) to work on the bioconversion of biomass to high value-added chemicals/materials. Using biotechnologies and green chemistry, our ambition is to build integrated industrial chains going from plants to commercial products.
