I have always been interested in protein structure/activity relationship and drug design.
During my PhD, I developed strong skills in 3D structures manipulation. I worked on the in silico design and optimization of peptidic inhibitors (anticancer drugs) of the human Rad51 protein polymerization (a protein involved in DNA repair). I used Molecular Modeling calculations as a predictive and selective tool to back up biochemical and in vitro activity tests (Fluorescence spectroscopies). I also performed in cellulo tests to confirm inhibitors' action into cancerous cells. I am thus used to analyze 3D structures and to deal with protein/protein and protein/ligands interactions.
In 2010 I joined Pr. Lavie’s group at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have there acquired strong skills in molecular biology, protein expression/purification/crystallization and in X-ray structure determination. I worked on different projects not only including transmembrane and scaffold proteins but also enzymes. Basically, I worked at understanding at the molecular level the function and workings of medicinally relevant enzymes and proteins in order to improve and develop novel therapeutics. We addressed questions such as those that relate to substrate (or drug) specificity, enzymatic mechanisms, and the determinants of protein-protein recognition and regulation.
In 2014 I moved back to France and joined Dr. Mourey’s group at the Institute of Pharmacology and Structural Biology in Toulouse. I was awarded a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship from ARC Foundation to develop my project aiming at better understanding microtubules and developing new anticancer drugs.
In 2017, I joined the Laboratory of Biological Systems and Chemical Engineering (EAD1 team) in Toulouse where I used my skills in structural biology and biophysics to characterize and improve proteins’ catalytic properties regarding to PET and PLA plastics degradation in order to rethink lifecycle of Plastics.
