    Water Treatment Plant for Semiconductor Industry in Singapore 2007 - 2008

    One of the challenge on this project was to coordinate the activities between our internal working team, the expectation of the customer on site in Singapore and all other companies involved in this big project. I was in charge of the software design specification for the Scada application Archestra 3.1 which should be used by all. Many workshops have been organized with all companies to finalize the project.
    Finally, all software application, PLC & Scada, have been completely simulated prior the commissioning and we were able to considerably reduce the time on site.

    With our software team for the detail engineering on a the Scada application, we developed a tool with VB and SQL which was able to generate the Scada database automatically based on the PLC data structure. It created a very smart interface between both the PLC and the Scada applications. This tool is still used in many projects.

    Due to a very tight project execution schedule. I had to find a way ro optimize the engineering time. I found the idea to develop a software with Dot.Net which is able to generate more than 80% of the PLC source code automatically, based on the process logic description and all project related documents. The software is now used as a standard tool which brings tremendous added-values to projects as it reduces considerably the programming time and enhances the quality of the compiled codes.
    Furthermore, I was also in charge of developing the project with our branch company in Shanghai and their software team as the plant is located in the north of China.

    The challenge on this project was to use a third part interface to communicate with an overall Scada system developed by a company in a multi platform environment. I rewrote the PLC standard function libraries to match the project requirements. The project coordination was tricky as the customer had an important delay on his design phase. The project had to be completed within four months. At the same time, we had to developed our own Scada application with a complete new approach specified by our customer.

    The project requirements were to edit a complete software design specification which was able to describe the process of a water treatment plant using the VGB German norms based on a standard language CFC (Continuous Function Chart).
    I developed a tools with VB for data handling of all cross –references between the tags and the relevant information contained in the output files. My strong knowledge of water treatment process was also a key point.
