En résumé

In 2014, together with several experienced private equity executives, we started a new company with an innovative proposition. Ixens supports controlling shareholders preserve and maximize the value of their investment in small and mid-size companies, especially in complex situations.

Prior to this, I have driven the creation of an international offshore service company from 2010 to 2013, initially as a Director and then as its CEO from mid 2012 to end 2013.
Through the acquisition, turnaround and merger of 3 independant companies (Gulmar Energy in the UAE, ISS/Andrews Survey in Scotland and Veolia Marine Services in the US), we have created what became a leading provider of subsea inspection, repair, maintenance and light construction services to the global oil and gas industry, with over US$400 million of sales in 2013, and close to 1,000 employees. The group is present and active in the four main regions for offshore Oil and Gas: the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, Africa and Asia Pacific.

Prior to my commitment to Harkand, I worked for 12 years in Private Equity and leveraged finance, at Oaktree Capital Management, focusing on complex special situations / turnaround, CVC Capital Partners and ING. Before my years in private equity, I spent 3 years at the Boston Consulting Group, and 1 year in an internet start-up.

NEUILLY SUR SEINE 2014 - maintenant "Hands-on Portfolio Management"
Ixens supports controlling shareholders in preserving and maximizing the value of their investment in small and mid-size companies, especially in complex situations.
We act by joining the Board of Directors and working actively - in and out of the boardroom - with the shareholders and the management team. We apply proven private equity methods to address a variety of business and financial challenges on a short, medium and long term horizon matching our clients objectives.
  • Harkand - CEO

2012 - 2013 I was appointed CEO in July 2012 to oversee the merger of the first two companies (Iremis and ISS / Andrews Survey) in a context of difficult financial performance.
Between 2012 and 2013, we grew the group sales by 45% (organic growth excluding the acquisition of VMS) and increased the profitability (EBITDA) of the group more than 3x.
Beyond financial performance, we actively created a single, integrated global group and organization, from 3 small, local and diverse companies.
  • Oaktree Capital Management - Senior Vice-Président

    2010 - 2013
  • Harkand - Director

2010 - 2014 The creation of Harkand Group started with Oaktree taking control end of 2010 of Gulmar Energy SA (UAE) a bankrupt company that we turned around in 2011/2012. Gulmar was restructured and renamed Iremis in 2012.
From the beginning, we saw an opportunity to consolidate the global market of Inspection, Repair, Maintenance and Light Construction for the offshore Oild and Gas industry.
The second step of that strategy came in 2012 with the acquisition of Scottish group ISS/Andrews Survey. They brought a strong reputation for the quality of their services although the company had faced financial difficulties and needed support to reach their next level of development.
Lastly in 2013 we acquired an underperforming subsidary of Veolia, VMS, in Houston USA. Again, we believed that the quality of the staff and of the assets would be a significant contribution to our building the global leader we were aiming for.
From this vision and these acquisitions, the Harkand group was formally created in February 2013 through the merger of the 3 acquired companies into a single group, which became highly profitable after significant restructuring done in 2012 and 2013.
