Olivier RUELLE

HONG KONG AND BEIJING

En résumé

After almost twenty years spent in the corporate world and following the Master degree I completed in 2013, I decided to go on with studying and started a PhD program at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Sept. 2014. My research focused on the motivations of social activists in China, whom are commonly called public interest practitioners in Chinese (gongyi congyezhe). I started to explore various professional options in 2018, as the PhD was approaching completion.

  • Ruder Finn Public Relations - Consultant et formateur en communication

2007 - 2014 During my almost 7 years at Ruder Finn, I led Insight, a department mainly in charge of training and intelligence reports. I trained clients (in Chinese and English) to help them understand China's media environment and also to be able to perform well during interviews. This was done in cooperation with other teams and colleagues to customize training sessions for each client in various industries.
Intelligence reports varied in scope and depth: the most in-depth report was a yearly review of the situation in the field of luxury consumption, called China Luxury Forecast, together with one of the top global survey companies in 2012 and 2013, Ipsos. Some ad-hoc monthly reports analyzed the macro economic situation in China as well as important political developments; business climate of an industry; and competition landscape in that industry, all of these from a communication perspective.
