PSA Peugeot Citroen
- Responsable Style Graphique
Rueil Malmaison2006 - 2013As Design Manager responsible for the 40 strong Design Team at Style Citroën based just outside Paris in Vélizy, my job (amongst others) entailed the general welfare, happiness and career progression of each member of the team.
The Designers work in three groups: Exterior designers, Interior Designers and a specialist team looking after all the "Product Design" parts of a car such as wheels, lights, trims and shared parts within the PSA group.
I was also responsible for identifying new talent and working closely with the design schools to establish close contacts.
Another role I undertook was looking after the interns and running sponsored projects with the schools.
I was also responsible for the facelift of one of our most popular vehicles.
I worked closely with HR and undertook all of the end of year performance reviews.
For two years, as a self motivated project, I ran Alternative Mobility thinking and led two extremely interesting projects looking at our future Transportation needs.
This is an area I would like to specialise in.
PSA Peugeot Citroën
- Studio Design Manager and Responsible for Industrial Styling
Rueil Malmaison2003 - 2006I ran the production Design Studio for PSA in Sochaux for three years before my move to Paris.
The studio was responsible for taking the styling models from Paris of both Peugeot and Citroën and finalising their development to make them production feasible.
This job required the skills to find the right balance between the needs of Styling, Engineering, the suppliers and the manufaturing site.
I was responsible as well for the welfare of the team, the day to day running of the studio and the inteface with the factory and Styling in Paris.
We successfully took into production the C4 Citroëns, the Picasso range of vehicles, the 307 and 308 Peugeots.
Within a very short time, I managed to inject a very international atmosphere in the team (very provincial) and introduced them to new working methods and management style.
During my time at Sochaux we added a second studio that the team designed.
Johnson Controls (JCI)
- Senior Designer / Design Manager
1999 - 2003I joined JCI's Design department in early 1999 as a Senior Designer working on interior parts and seating solutions for major OEMs.
Detached in 2000 to work at Ford Merkenich with the Mazda design team my job was to help Mazda's designers turn their styling proposals into a feasible reality.
I also had the opportunity to propose design themes to Mazda.
I became incharge of one of the Design Studios at JCI on my return that then saw me become an Account Design Manager looking after the design development of all of JCI's products for the PAG (Premium Automotive Group)part of Ford.
This included products for Ford, Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Mazda.
I was JCI's lead designer for the seating project on the LR Discovery 3 that we co-developed with LR Styling. At the end of 2002, I left JCI to join PSA
