Séverine's guiding light: Health disorders prevention through Nutrition.
Séverine graduated in 1996 from AgroSup Dijon, France as an engineer in Food Sciences during which she specialized in Nutrition and carried out some research in Edmonton, Canada. She then spent one year at the public research institute (INSERM) in Paris where she got a master degree (DEA) in Physiology of Nutrition testing renutrition formula and launching human studies in France and Chad. After, she got a degree in Statistics and Methodologies for clinical studies before commencing a PhD in Gastrointestinal health at INSERM, Paris during which she coordinated human studies for testing effects of food. Having spent several years in a research environment, her interest has focused on the development of functional foods for preventing health disorders. After her PhD she worked 12 years for Danone Research in France and Belgium as Clinical scientist, Global R&D manager and Global Regulatory and External Affairs manager. She was actively involved in the substantiation of health claims and in managing relations with regulatory authorities worlwide including EFSA, the EC and national authorities. She has worked 3 years as Corporate Scientific and Regulatory Director for Nexira, France a food ingredients supplier and in 2012 joined an innovative Swiss biotech company Amazentis as Director for Regulatory and Clinical Affairs. She has the skills for developing functional foods, defining the best regulatory strategy (categories and geographies), proving their benefits in clinical settings for different indications (like gastrointestinal health, cardiovascular health, weight management, cognition...), building the appropriate regulatory dossiers for approval and communication tools. Thanks to her sharp analysis, extended network and leadership, she has been a key contributor for the success of products like Plumpy Nut, Activia, Actimel and the delivery of their benefits to consumers.
