    2012 - 2015 Advanced Nanolithography / Data Storage Devices

    Partnered in industry-wide team to build next-generation hard disk drive (HDD) technologies that enable high-density data storage tool infrastructure. Acted as expert in advanced nanolithography/ nanopatterning with emphasis on nanofabrication processes using atomic layer deposition (ALD) and plasma etch methods. Managed development and support of thin film and etch vacuum systems, and cleanroom facilities.

    Selected Accomplishments:
    • Attained breakthroughs in advanced lithography processes developing pattern density multiplication with directed self-assembly (DSA) of block copolymers and self-aligned double patterning (SADP).
    • Establishing new route in block copolymer lithography for highest resolution perspective by enabling sub-10 nm lithography with alternative benefit of ALD in self-assembled BCPs
    • Achieved first world technology demonstration of disk areal densities up to 2.0 Tbit/in2 by completing patterning method transfer on templates with stringent quality constraints, ensuring pre-development manufacturing process.
    • Co-authored 2 patents and more than 5 scientific journal publications (top impact factor publications).

    Strasbourg 2007 - 2012 Flexible Solar Fab / Organic Semiconductors

    Held a position of Associate Professor at ICube / University of Strasbourg (UDS - Universite de Strasbourg) (ranking #4 French university).
    Oversaw research strategy, supervision, and funding in manufacturing process and performance improvement for organic solar and molecular sensor devices. Launched and led advanced research in interface engineering materials for flexible organic solar cells, and bringing new insights in high-volume roll-to-roll manufacturing.

    Selected Accomplishments:
    • Improved solar cell performance and earned international program fund of 3.5M € for 4-years duration in 2011 by developing new protocols in sputtering systems for interfacial film deposition.
    • Generated new coating solution by using soft-lithography technique for roll-to-roll manufacturing process, collaborating on innovative researches for molecular sensor and graphene electrode-based organic devices within framework of joint funding with public/private incubation program.
    • Teaching supervisor in graduate programs for manufacturing process & electrical engineering (renewable energy, power efficiency/control, DSP/FPGA, computer science).
    • Supervised 3 PhDs, 10 master students and 1 post-doctoral researcher.
    • Received high citation of published papers leading to international recognition in organic solar.
  • IIS Tokyo / CNRS - Senior Scientist

    2002 - 2007 Smart MEMS / 3D Microsystem Integration

    Held a position of Senior Scientist at the Institute of Industrial Science / The Tokyo University in an international research unit (>100 researchers / 10 cooperative laboratories) on MEMS and NEMS (Micro- and Nanoelectromechanical Systems) operated in joint names of France, CNRS - French National Research Center, and Japan, Institute of Industrial Science (IIS), The University of Tokyo.
    Supervised research in design and fabrication of MEMS for developing smart microsystem solutions in microbiotic field.

    Selected Accomplishments:
    • Generated new solutions in contactless micro manufacturing by leading research in advanced micro actuators, building experimental setup for micromanipulation.
    • Established new fabrication concept orientation in MEMS by creating 3D integration process of smart MEMS (IC / sensor / actuator), using wafer-level packaging (TSV, bumping, microcontact, bonding) techniques.
    • Developed first virtual prototyping methodology in MEMS by designing and controlling testing as part of national program fund award 450K € for 4-years in 2006.
