    Cincinnati 2011 - 2015 In charge of the food safety & the quality (fs&q) of the Bananas, Fresh Convenience and Healthy Snacks Chiquita businesses: QC at port/ripening centre levels, Regulatory Affairs, 2 Fresh Cut Fruit (FCF) factories in the Netherlands, 6 co-packers (FCF, IQF fruits, smoothies, fruit chips), 18 Fruit Bars in EME (qualified and managed through regular audits and dashboards implementation), and more than 50 suppliers worldwide. 2 direct reports (Sr level), department of 20+ people, 2.5Mio€ budget

    Key achievements:
    • 2011: FCF – quality improved by 15% (IFS Food v.5 & McDonald’s SQMS audits) within 5 months via process optimization and successful implementation of highest standards (GMP’s/GHP’s); level improved by 5% in 2012
    • Q1 2012: Due diligence process team member and integration of a key acquisition (Fresh Cut Fruit facility in the NL) with creation of common processes; BRC version 6 implementation (A-Grade) within 3 months
    • H1 2012: Led the set-up of a new FCF factory in the NL (2500m², 30 tons processed/day): expertise & guidelines provided during the design phase (facility layout, sanitary design), during equipment suppliers selection and purchasing steps, and along execution of the project
    • 2012: Development and implementation within 6 months of the quality and food safety system of our Fresh Select business unit in Belgium (10 people, melons/pineapples/limes/grapes) – IFS Broker certified (Higher level)

    Quality system data administration for Europe & Middle East:
    o Processing of the quality related data from the measurements performed in the EU Market (port/ripening/retails QC);
    o Maintenance and development of the databases, measure/inspection and reporting systems for bananas and other fruits;
    o Maintenance of the databases & portable devices (handhelds) with support and assistance to the EME quality inspectors (20+ people across 8 countries) following successful implementation of a new inspection system.

    Key achievements:
    • 2009: Developed and led the implementation of a new metric system which helped to improve overall quality by 20% with significant cost reduction (cost of failure reduced by € 2Mio the 1st year thanks to quality level improved)
    • 2010: Developed an on time feedback system with Tropical organization via reports and other tracking tools to improve the follow up of the corrective and preventative actions plans execution; appointed European food safety coordinator: traceability, residue analysis, authorities, certification/accreditation bodies
  • COTY - Third Party Manufacturing, Quality Manager (Europe)

    Paris 2008 - 2009 • In charge of the q&fs/release of all the finished goods subcontracted in Europe for COTY Prestige

    • Main quality & factory support contact person for subcontractors in Europe (follow-up of the projects, follow-up of industrializations with start-ups attendance especially to bring technical support, tracking of any non-conformance/issue with remediation proposal, dealing directly with packaging materials suppliers, audits of subcontractors/vendors…)

    • Consolidate the strong quality partnership built with the main subcontractor

    • Management of the team: workload management, support for QC (packaging and industrial chemistry), internal QA and continuous improvement, food safety follow up, quality reports with Key Process Indicators…
  • COTY - Quality Assurance certification Manager

    Paris 2007 - 2008 Detached within the main European subcontractor (manufacturing of hydro-alcoholics & cosmetics products and filling) to build quality partnership: Société de Diffusion des Produits de Parfumerie – 30 Mio units per year for COTY

    • Certification approach: review of all the processes (GMP’s, hygiene standards, quality control, Non Conformance management…) to drive the Q.A. certification process versus the TPM certification procedure

    • Ensure the inspection of the finished goods (coordinate the inspections in situ and NC management)

    • Work with the TPM Q.A. Manager and the packaging materials suppliers to prioritize and to solve recurrent components issues and implement a certification process (achievements: 40% increase components certified via suppliers audits; 50% decrease inspection numbers at SDPP; quality improved by 30% based on NC)
  • COTY - Factory Support Manager

    Paris 2006 - 2007 • Responsible for ‘external’ quality assurance : main quality & technical contact for the support of all the European subcontractors between and during the launches of new products

    • Industrialization of all the new formulae destined to the EU market: attendance to pilots and 1st manufacturing in the EU subcontractors factories (close collaboration with R&D group based in the USA)

    • Attendance to the pilot and 1st start-up as a technical support in order to meet COTY quality requirements

    • Non conformities management (bulks, components and finished goods) in collaboration with relevant people from other COTY’s departments (R&D, New Product Development, Technical Packaging Development…)

    2005 - 2005 Mise en place d’un laboratoire d’analyses physico-chimiques et microbiologiques (Coût total de la mise en place supérieur à 20 000 €) et développement de nouveaux produits

    • Identification et analyse des points critiques sur la ligne de production (en collaboration avec les 2 brasseurs) et mise en œuvre de solutions pour leur maîtrise (méthode HACCP)
    • Rédaction des fiches protocoles analyses nécessaires à un suivi qualité, rédaction du cahier des charges pour la création d’un laboratoire Qualité et mise en place du laboratoire en collaboration avec différents fournisseurs de matériel et les 2 brasseurs

    Participation au projet ABIPO (Antioxidant-Based Industrial Products from Oats) sur la partie du projet intitulée « Bioconversion de l’avoine » – Coût total du projet: 215 000 €

    • Mise en place d’une stratégie de bioconversion visant à hydrolyser la plupart des composants macromoléculaires de l’avoine et utilisant une culture mixte
    • Conduite de nombreuses fermentations utilisant 3 types de moisissures
    • Collaboration étroite avec dix chercheurs et rédaction en anglais d’une publication
