Paris2014 - 2016Field Engineer as part of the Tech & Field program, where one works for 18 months on the field of the oilfield industry, before heading to a research center with a better understanding of the field requirements.
My assignment was for Drilling & Measurement in Aberdeen, Scotland; After working on 12 different jobs, including 8 offshore in the North Sea, I have had a complete field experience. Working from Aberdeen remotely to Romania and Serbia, or directly on British and Danish offshore rigs, as well as going to school in Abu Dhabi has greatly developed my sense of contact, my ability to find solutions on my own or by talking to the right people. It is a character-building experience to be faced with an issue at 3 o'clock in the morning, surrounded by nothing but steel, wind and water, and with the pressure of thousands of dollars lost for every hour of "non-productive time".
It now feels far easier to blend in, whatever the conditions, languages, accents, or tasks to accomplish.
