Olowi project took place in Gabon and included fabrication, transport and installation of 3 decks of 800t and 3 jackets of 400T. The project also included the laying of 2 systems of pipe lines to link the platorms with the 10" line equipped with a Direct Electrical Heating system (DEH). All platforms were connected to the FPSO with umbilicals and flexibles laid over a mid water arch.
This as been a challenging project from a technical point of view (pipe pulling under FPSO, electrical heating cable laid in piggy back) and from logistical aspect (operation in Gabon from Congo).

As Polaris Field Engineer, I have been involved in operational phases of major offshore projects, ensuring that installation procedures are in compliance with barge capabilities, reviewing technical aspects of operations and mobilizing material from our onshore bases. Joining the barge crew for each project, I have supervised various typical offshore operations, assisting Barge Manager in defining the work sequence and making sure that project quality and safety specifications are applied.

Based in Angola and working in relationship with workers and client from various nationalities, I have managed a project of 13 Millions USD, covering procurement and fabrication of 15 suction anchor piles for Kizomba FPSO. Using for the first time a brand new assembly line and coordinating a team of 100 welders, fitters and riggers, we have been able to achieve structures delivery within schedule and budget.
- Development of a new safety culture among workers.
- Contract management, planning and budget reporting.
- Definition of an assembly & welding sequence for the piles fabrication.
- Construction supervision as per EXXONMOBIL specifications.
- Logistic follow up of steel shipped from Europe.

I worked on several fabrication projects on Warri yard (Nigeria) and Lobito yard (Angola), acting as a functional link between the project management team based in Europe and the yard. Dealing with welding, quality and safety constraints, I was the single point of contact with the client site representative.
- Fabrication of an 80T manifold with duplex piping for ABB-Coflexip in Angola. Management of a team of 25 workers.
- Fabrication of decks (550 Tons) and jackets for Amenam field, Nigeria. Structural and piping work.

This cooperation has been an opportunity to acquire a first experience in oil & gas industry and of West Africa. Travelling through the country and auditing projects gave me a glimpse of what managing a project in harsh environment could be.
