France Telecom had problems to reach and administer remote servers through different networks. The task was time consuming, error prone and tedious:
• Idea, specification and implementation in C of a specific TCP/IP Protocol to access and manage not directly accessible remote servers through a chain(X25/IP) of Unix workstations running AIX.
• Descriptive language to define steps to jump from one server to another and the tool was able to define his own optimal route and build the connections.
• Internal deployment and tests, users feedback, fixes and improvements. A lot of tech fun.
